Shrewsbury Light Orchestra

Joining The Orchestra

We are always pleased to welcome to the Orchestra keen, competent players of an appropriate standard. While there is no formal audition, the conductor and committee reserve the right to ask new players, where necessary, to undergo a trial period before inviting them to take part in concerts.

New players are welcome in some sections of the Orchestra. The clarinet, flute and saxophone sections are currently fully subscribed but other sections, especially percussion, strings and brass would welcome new players.

Rehearsals are held on Friday evenings from 7.30 to 10.00pm, and are normally held at The Memorial Hall, Bayston Hill. Click here for a schedule of rehearsals up to the break for Summer Holidays. Because of the coronavirus pandemic there will be no rehearsals until further notice. However, it has now been decided that rehearsals will start again in September subject to any changes in restrictions, date to be determined mid to late July.

The current subscription for playing members is 20 per year.
